“See a Kid, Give a Book” Brings Collector Car Stories to Young Enthusiasts at Audrain Newport Concours & Motor Week 2026

October 9, 2026 Kathy Rose

Support from Broad Arrow Auctions and Hagerty helps author and podcast host Greg Stanley connect young people with the automotive hobby

NEWPORT, R.I., October 9, 2026 — Young enthusiasts attending the Audrain Newport Concours & Motor Week 2026 this past weekend in Newport, Rhode Island, were able to take home more than memories of remarkable automobiles.

Through the “See a Kid, Give a Book” initiative, created by author and host of The Collector Car Podcast Greg Stanley, with support from Broad Arrow Auctions and Hagerty, 38 complimentary copies of his popular “The Enthusiast’s Guide to Collector Cars” were distributed.

Recipients, ages 7 to 16, included participants in the Hagerty Youth Judging program, which gave young people an opportunity to engage with collector cars during the weekend. The book giveaway extended that experience beyond the show field, offering an accessible introduction to the cars, personalities, and stories that make the hobby special.

The initiative has now put more than 150 books into the hands of children at seven events, including the Audrain Concours weekend.

Stanley will continue sharing books at upcoming concours through Hagerty’s Youth Judging program, as well as at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals in Chicago on November 21, and the Driven to Care COTA event in Austin, Texas, on November 7.

“The idea is simple: see a kid who’s interested in cars and give them something that encourages that curiosity,” said Stanley. “A concours can spark an interest in a single afternoon. My hope is that a book gives them a reason to keep exploring when they get home.”

"The Enthusiast’s Guide to Collector Cars" introduces new enthusiasts to the breadth of the collector car hobby, from the pioneering automobiles of the Brass Era to today’s modern collectibles. Through accessible explanations and engaging stories, it explores automotive history, significant cars, collecting, auctions, concours events, and the people and communities that bring the hobby to life.

The book features contributions from automotive personalities including Jay Leno, Wayne Carini, Sandra Button, Bill Warner, Hélio Castroneves, and John Davis. It has sold more than 1,000 copies in its first six months and received positive reviews from Octane, MotorWeek, and Sports Car Market, among other outlets.

“As the presenting sponsor of The Enthusiast's Guide book series, Broad Arrow Auctions has helped make these giveaways possible, and I’m grateful for their support,” Stanley added. “Putting books into young enthusiasts’ hands is a practical way to invest in the future of our car community.”

The Audrain Concours weekend also brought a memorable moment for Stanley when famed comedian and “car guy” Jay Leno signed and illustrated Stanley’s personal copy of the first book. Leno also agreed to contribute to Stanley’s forthcoming “The Enthusiast’s Guide to Porsche.”

Stanley welcomes conversations with individuals, businesses, clubs, and event organizers interested in supporting future “See a Kid, Give a Book” giveaways.
